When we begin working on your Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) or Webex Dedicated Instance (Webex DI) integration, we request a copy of your Route Plan Report. This report provides essential visibility into the structure of your environment. Having it upfront allows us to configure your cloud system accurately, ensuring the most reliable and insightful reporting experience.
What the Route Plan Report Enables #
- Accurate Differentiation Between Trunks and Devices: Environments often include a mix of trunks, gateways, and devices. Without the Route Plan Report, the system may treat these elements similarly, leading to misclassification of traffic. The report helps us clearly identify which entries represent external connections (trunks/gateways) and which represent individual devices—ensuring call activity is categorized correctly.
- Clear Hunt Pilot Naming for Better Reporting: Many organizations use hunt pilots to manage call distribution across teams or departments. The Route Plan Report allows us to map these hunt pilot numbers to meaningful names and functions. This ensures your reports display intuitive labels like “Sales Hunt Group” or “Support Queue” instead of generic extension numbers—making the data easier to interpret.
- Identification of Voicemail Ports and Extensions: Voicemail traffic can resemble regular call activity unless properly defined. The Route Plan Report helps us distinguish voicemail ports and extensions from standard user devices. This prevents voicemail activity from skewing user-level reporting and keeps your directory and analytics accurate.
